HOW DO I GET RID OF BLACKBERRY BUSHES ON MY ACREAGE PROPERTY?
After removing countless blackberry bushes from numerous properties over the years, we have put together a proven process that allows us to remove blackberry bushes and prevent them from regrowing in the future.
Step 1: Perform continuous mastication of the new blackberry bush growth to weaken the bush and kill the energy stores in the roots. It is important to note that, during this step, you should avoid digging up the roots of the bush.
Step 2: Plant a cover crop that lays down a root layer and creates darkness overtop of the blackberry bush’s roots. Grass tends to be the ideal cover crop because it has a thick matted root system and, when you mow it, any new blackberry bush growth will be cut along with the grass.

HOW CAN I PREVENT BLACKBERRY PLANTS FROM REGROWING AFTER REMOVAL?
The key to preventing blackberry bushes from regrowing is to continually cut as many times as it takes to deplete the energy stores in the roots. After the plant has been repeatedly cut, it will grow back slowly, stringy, and along the ground. Once this happens, you can plant grass seed or hydroseed overtop of the bush’s root system to black out the root zone and to prevent the bush from regrowing.
